LeConte Elementary School Volunteering LeConte Elementary is one of Berkeley’s most socioeconomically disadvantaged school, and the teachers are working hard to give the children the best education possible. A small group of children have demonstrated advanced abilities in math and science (plus an interest in being challenged academically), but are not able to get the attention they need in a classroom forced to focus on getting everyone to pass the minimum standards. SWE plans to come in on a weekly basis and work through a teacher-designed curriculum with these students, utilizing our enthusiasm for math and science to help these kids grow and be excited about learning!
